A start

I would like to share some images I have been working on at the end of last year. "Dreaming of everything" began when I was walked past bright coloured balloons on the street corner announcing a garage sale... well how could I resist? So from then on most Saturdays I went on a little hunt for garage sales in my area. I meet some very lovely people, had plenty of good laughs trying to explain why I want to make a series on garage sales. This project involved pushing me out of my comfort zone and I will continue this project for another little while, to explore it further.

Home

Today I received this lovely submission from Muge in China. These are from his series "Go home" a story he tells really well.

Going places

I just discovered Mike Bailey Gates over at daydream lily and whilst I try and not repeat what is currently on other blogs, I simply had to as I was absolutely smitten with Mike's soft, refreshingly and adventurous images. What amazed me even more was to hear he is only 17. I am sure we will hear much more about him in the years to come.

Oh the simplicity

When I came upon Jürgen Bergbauer's "Studien nach der Natur" images I was wondering if he was the same person who did the simple "Häuser" and indeed he was. The simplicity of his images is marvelous.

Childhood years

The other day I was researching photography in the Netherlands and came upon Foam. I was intrigued by Viviane Sassen's images and went to her website, where I found these astonishing images.

New UYW Issue online

So I am running a week behind, but here it is finally. For the first time I have put myself in it and I have to confess I found it rather challenging. I mentioned in one of my previous posts, that I have tried (for years) to photograph the Australian landscape, but it's only now I feel I've managed to capture it. When I went camping I had plenty of time to observe the colours of the trees and leaves throughout different times of the day. Sometimes the forest seemed transparent and to capture the beauty of the detail I had to focus on a small area. I've tried this with many different cameras but have been unable until now to replicate the effects I achieved with my 35mm and on film. I followed butterflies and altered the reading of the light to achieve these colours. Sometimes I believe if I could string together all the images I've taken I'd be able to take you on a journey through subtle hues of colour, landscapes and macro photography.

Over the last couple of months I've had the pleasure of working with some outstanding photographers who have taken me on adventures of their own - each month revealing new visions and new perspectives from across the world and its history.

Upside down and inside out

Today I came upon these charming images on Riitta Ikonen's website. On her website she says: "For two years now we haven't had snow in Finland for Christmas. This is very unusual and worrying and prompted me to start an ongoing site specific project looking at the effects of global warming." Check out her section "Me again". These photographs were taken by Anni Koponen, but I could not locate them on her website.

Snow Queen

While I am an absolute summer girl I do miss snow - sometimes. How lovely are these images by 19 year old Olivia Locher? She is currently living and creating in New York City.

Rolling in

Happy and exciting new year. I am back from my holidays - well have been for a few days now, but have been busy trying to finish the new UYW issue (unfortunately everything is running a bit behind schedule as I simply could not do any work anymore at the end of the year. I truly tried between christmas and new year, but...) also I thought it would be a nice idea to put myself in this upcoming issue, but as aways I find it rather hard to decide and choose... All is finally organised and hopefully the journal will be out in the next couple of days. It is a ladies issue only and I am very excited about it. Apart from UYW I also have to finish a lovely branding job I have to present next week. I was rather inspired by the the horizon - such an inspiration. I could stare at for hours if not days. I tired to make a little sound scape with the waves, but unfortunately it didnt work out.
