"Among" is Fabio Barile's documentary project concerning 1200 km of Italian coast subjected to a worrying amount of sea erosion due to over-development. Regional authorities have set up monitoring programmes with satellite imaging and other scientific methods in order to control the situation. His project concerns the beach in his home town where the sea road has been completely submerged. Starting with this fascinating location, he became increasingly interested in the phenomenon of erosion and its consequences on the marine system while working in parallel on the position of the limits between things like earth and sea and day and night.

On Rain

Every time it rains (and it does not rain very often in Melbourne) I am fascinated with the quality of light. It seems so pure and fresh and the reflection tell a story of their own. This gorgeous images are from Leland Bobbe.

Time for renewal

"The Burn series evolved from my ongoing interest in life cycles. Controlled burns imitate naturally occurring fires by removing accumulated dead vegetation and releasing seeds from dormancy. By opening the woodlands to more sunlight, the fires prepare the soil for new spring growth, and the cycle of renewal continues. While accompanying restoration ecologists on prescribed prairie burns, I am drawn to the ephemeral quality of a single moment when life and death do not seem opposed to each other, but are parts of a single process to be accepted as a whole."
I discovered "The Burn" on Jane Fulton Alt's website. I think these images are stunning and haunting at the same time.

Wet Collodian Techniques

I am absolutely fascinated with old techniques and wish I could do a workshop. I might just have o take a trip to NY... These stunning images are from Jody Ake, also a Critical Mass participant. What a delight.

How one thing always leads to the other

I was doing some research on navigation design and came across Studio Racket, who are also from Melbourne. I just had to browse their amazing website, check out their photos and books - and learned it was Paul & Rachel who put together this amazing book "The present history" which I bought a while ago... small world indeed. Anyway, here are some very cute images.
